The Integrated Sustainable Urban Development Strategy of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria was awarded to the City Council in 2017. The municipal proposal for the development of a set of actions to improve environmental, economic, mobility and social conditions was deemed suitable. The overall objective is to promote the well-being of the residents in the neighbourhoods of the Cono Sur area by offering a smart space with multiple opportunities for this 21st century.

Thanks to the financing of the ERDF funds and the municipal contributions, 16 lines of action are programmed. These include several dozen operations that pursue integrated sustainability and the shaping of an urban space that plays an essential role in understanding today’s city. Particular emphasis is placed on improving its environmental and functional quality as a coastal and residential environment; on the broad knowledge of and identification with its heritage, its social identity and its territorial resources; on the modernisation of its public spaces; on the diversification of its economic environment and the direct involvement of the population in its development over the coming decades.
