PARTICIPATION SPACE
PARTICIPATE IN THE ISUDS
This space aims to contribute to activating and promoting citizen participation. You can share your ideas or comments regarding the Integrated Sustainable Urban Development Strategy for the Cono Sur area of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
We thank you in advance for your participation and trust that this space will become a tool for sharing ideas and making public actions more approachable and participative.

This mechanism, included in the Strategy, supports and documents its development and interaction with citizens and social actors. It aligns the City Council’s responsibility and public service with the population’s expectations and rating, with the ERDF programme acting as an overarching element and previous experience acting as a useful tool.
Citizens have the right to participate – individually and through the bodies created to defend their interests and values – in the process of urban regeneration planned for the Cono Sur area through this ISUDS.
This exercise translates into a set of actions that create and document the relationship between the target population and the City Council for this Strategy as part of a broad programme to encourage citizen participation in the municipality’s management.
The participative events carried out within the EDUSI are documented here. The goal is to offer transparency and present the public service and the efforts of the population and urban actors to improve the neighbourhoods.

The Urban Planning and Housing Councillor of the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Javier Doreste, accompanied by the Citizen Participation and District Councillor, Prisco Navarro, and several Urban Planning technicians, informed some thirty residents of the Pedro Hidalgo neighbourhood of the details of the 17 projects included in the Integrated Sustainable Urban Development (ISUD) Strategy. These projects represent an investment of 17 million euros, which will serve to develop actions to improve the environment, public spaces, and mobility, and to create new facilities and services.
The talk and the participation ended with the gathering of proposals to be integrated into the actions. This process of dissemination to neighbours will be carried out in other neighbourhoods of the Cono Sur area.

Dissemination and participation talk with the neighbours of the Cono Sur area in El Lasso
The neighbours of El Lasso and the surrounding neighbourhoods who attended this afternoon’s meeting were interested in the employment possibilities in the area, the social benefits they can access, and the MetroGuagua (Bus Rapid Transit - BRT) and the ISUD projects that will focus on the Cono Sur area.
This afternoon in the civic centre of El Lasso, the Mayor of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Augusto Hidalgo, discussed with citizens and neighbourhood representatives of the Vegueta-Cono Sur-Tafira district the main projects that the City Council has initiated to give the Cono Sur area, and the city as a whole, a social and economic boost. The goal is to achieve a more intensive, sustainable and lasting development over time, allowing all families in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to have the same opportunities.
